Steps to apply
Research your options
Download the domestic prospectus or international prospectus, and take a look at our research centres and institutes to see what projects are underway or due to start soon.
Find a supervisor
Search for a potential supervisor using our Supervisor Register.
Once you find a supervisor who you think is a match for your research idea, we recommend you make contact via email to see if they are interested in your topic and whether they have the capacity to supervise at this time. They will usually want to know about your educational background (undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications) any research experience you have had, details of a thesis e.g. honours thesis and your supervisor/s and a summary of your planned research. International candidates should also include information on English language test results.
Submit your application
Get an application form by downloading the prospectus - domestic or international. The application process takes around six weeks and we'll advise the outcome by email.
Closing dates
Closing dates are not enforced for general candidature applications with the exception of two programs: the PhD Clinical Psychology and PhD Health Psychology, which close on the first Friday in October each year (for admission in the following calendar year).
Scholarship applications close 31 August each year for international applicants and 31 October for domestic applicants.
RHD candidates may commence their studies on almost any weekday of the year.
