Cartographer / Computer Mapper

Cartographers and computer mappers are responsible for representing geospatial information on maps, charts, models and plans through the integration of information gathered by surveyors, remote sensing satellite imagery equipment, aerial photographing and ground data collected by scientists. Within this field, professionals may specialise in creation of geospatial modelling software or another area of expertise but may also work in a generalist role within a multi-disciplinary team.

The documents produced by cartographers and computer mappers are widely used across many sectors such as defence, resources and mining, planning and weather forecasting as well as by the general public in the form of road maps etc.
