Graduate employment

Labour force statistics show that bachelor degree graduates in Australia have lower unemployment than the general population. However, working out how you might use a bachelor degree qualification to gain employment in a field that interests you requires knowledge of yourself and the employment opportunities available.

Many graduates pursue careers that are closely linked to what they studied while others use their degree in other ways. Why?

Individual choice: People change and change their minds about what they enjoy and want or are able to pursue.

Opportunity: Some employers look for specialist knowledge and skills, while others recruit graduates for the transferable skills gained through university study (regardless of major) - these skills include analytical and problem solving, communication, research, collaboration, time and project management, initiative, and the ability to acquire new knowledge and embrace change.
