
Dr Hassan Ali
Lecturer (Electrical Engineering)
Hassan Ali received his first engineering degree with First Class First (Faculty Top) position in Electrical Engineering from the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Pakistan, in 1994, and his PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Melbourne (UniMelb), Victoria, Australia, in 2003.
He was the recipient of Overseas Postgraduate Research Scholarship (OPRS) (by the Australian Government), Melbourne International Research Scholarship (by UniMelb) and Postgraduate Studentships (Dept of Electrical & Electronic Engg, UniMelb) for PhD studies at the UniMelb. Hassan was also the recipient of a Gold and a Silver Medal by MUET in recognition of his meritorious academic achievements.
During his 10 years as a Lecturer, Hassan has taught a range of subjects in Signal Processing, Electronics, Digital Communications, and Computer Engineering at undergraduate* and postgraduate levels at the UniMelb* (Melbourne), Curtin University of Technology (Perth), and the University of Nottingham, UK (Malaysia Campus), before joining the University of Newcastle (UON), Australia (Singapore campus), in 2008. At UON Singapore, he also coordinates Final Year Projects and Industrial Placements.
He has strong publication record in multicarrier systems and has served as the reviewer for many international journals and conferences. His research interest lies in improving efficiency, developing efficient signal processing algorithms and pre-empting bottlenecks in wireless and mobile communication systems.
